Questions
The ones people actually ask, answered without marketing. If yours is not here, ask and it probably should be.
Cost
- What does Praana cost?
- Nothing. Praana is free on the App Store, with all thirteen features included, no in-app purchases, no subscription and no advertising. The AI features cost money to run, so a limit or a paid tier is possible one day, but it would be announced on the pricing page and inside the app before it happened rather than appearing overnight.
- Is there a trial that expires?
- No. There is no trial, because there is nothing to trial into. Nothing stops working after a fortnight.
Privacy
- Do you sell my health data?
- No. It is not sold, and not shared with advertisers or data brokers. Your health data stays on your device, in Apple Health or Health Connect. When you use an AI feature, only the context needed for that one answer is sent to generate it, and it is not used to train anyone's model.
- How do I delete my account and everything in it?
- Settings, then More, then Delete Account. It runs on the server and removes your profile, synced data, analytics and sign-in account straight away. What sits in Apple Health or Health Connect stays on your device, because that is yours rather than ours. Backups are purged within 30 days.
Devices
- Do I need a watch?
- Only for two things. The stress score needs heart rate variability and the sleep score needs sleep data, so both need a wearable. The other eleven features do not: food, meal plans, workouts, blood reports, cycle tracking, body composition, the journal, medication reminders, hydration, Ara and the news feed all work on the phone alone, and your phone counts steps by itself.
- Will my Fitbit, Oura, Garmin or Whoop work?
- Yes, on the same terms as any other device. Praana never connects to a watch directly: it reads Apple Health or Health Connect, so whatever your device writes there, Praana can read. The one thing worth checking is heart rate variability, because some bands sync heart rate without it, and without HRV there is no stress score.
- When is Android coming?
- The Android build is finished and feature-matched, but it is in closed testing. Google requires a new developer account to run a closed test with twelve testers for fourteen days before it can publish publicly, and that is the step in progress. Leave an email on the homepage and you will get one note when it is out.
Using it
- Why is my stress score empty for the first two weeks?
- Because a stress number measured against a population average describes strangers, not you. Heart rate variability is strongly individual, so Praana measures against your own history, and there is no history to compare against for roughly the first fortnight. The app says the baseline is still forming rather than inventing a number.
- What languages does it run in?
- Eighty-nine, across twenty-five writing systems, four of them right to left. Six are hand-checked translations; the rest are translated on request and cached on your device, so they work offline afterwards. Numbers and units are verified against the original before a translation is shown, so a dose or a lab value cannot be altered in translation.
- Does it work without a connection?
- Mostly. Logging, your own history, reminders and the journal all work offline. Ara, AI workout and meal generation, the news feed and translating into a new language need a connection.
Honesty
- Is Praana a medical device?
- No, and it will not pretend otherwise. Praana is a wellness tracker. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent anything, and its readings are not clinically accurate. It is built to help you notice patterns and ask better questions. For anything medical, talk to a doctor.
- Can it detect sleep apnoea?
- No. On iOS 18 and later Praana can show a notification that Apple Watch has already raised, and pass it on, but it does not detect apnoea itself and nothing it shows is a diagnosis.
- Are the AI answers reliable?
- They are labelled as AI everywhere they appear, and Ara is set up to say when it is unsure rather than guess confidently. It reads your own data, so it is better grounded than a general chatbot, but it is not a clinician and should not be treated as one.
- Why is the app rated 17+?
- Because it handles cycle tracking, blood reports, body composition and medication reminders, which are not appropriate for younger users. Praana asks for a date of birth during setup and restricts those features for under-17s rather than relying on the store rating alone.
Anything else: support. The longer versions live on pricing, devices, your data and the medical disclaimer.
